Appointed Minister for Sport, Youth and the Voluntary Sector on 24 December 2024 by the President of the Republic on the proposal of the Prime Minister, Marie Barsacq (51) worked for over 10 years at the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF) on issues relating to employment, training and qualifications in the sports movement. She then joined the Fédération Française de Football, where she set up the Institut de Formation du Football (IFF), before becoming deputy director general in charge of amateur football.
A lawyer by training, this native of Dax played a part in the success of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games as Executive Director of Impact and Legacy within the Games Organising Committee (COJOP). In this capacity, she initiated various programmes to promote sport and its impact, including the 30′ Daily Physical Activity (DPA) programme in primary schools, Olympic and Paralympic Week, the 1,2,3 Swim! plan and the “Impact 2024” call for projects aimed at the voluntary sector.
